About Us
Embracing Our Past, Empowering Rwanda's Future.
Over the past 12 years, Our Past Initiative has been actively organizing events during the commemoration week of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi. Our mission is to bridge the generational gap by bringing together young people and elder Rwandans to share stories, preserving Rwanda’s history and helping the younger generation connect deeply with their roots.
Through art forms like dance, theater, poetry, and drama, we inspire thousands of young people annually to understand, honor, and carry forward Rwanda's legacy.

Our impact reaches beyond commemoration events.
We empower vulnerable communities by renovating homes, providing health insurance, and supporting economic self-sufficiency through livestock and community projects.
Our upcoming plans include expanding Our Past Event to all four provinces, renovating additional homes for Genocide survivors, and building Menstrual Hygiene Management rooms in schools, fostering positive change and unity across Rwanda.
